Racism or Fear?
Brittany Lauren Molly and Noelle want to know...
What is your opinion towards racism, is it mainly about the color of ones skin, or is there a direct stereotype that people follow?
My feelings towards racism is i dont believe that its ok. We are all human no matter what coler are skin may be know one deserves to be judged, or treated differently simply because there skin is lighter or darker than your's.
I think that racism is a major conflict in society. To many people judge others based on the color of there skin and do not give them a chance. Different races get treated with no respect and I feel that it should be changed. People need to not judge a book by there cover.
Racism to me is in general is how people who are narrow minded react to what they percieve as a 'threat' to thier race and culture, so racism is more fear and ignorance than anything else.
I am confused by racism. Clearly, we are all human with the same physical potential in our minds and bodies. We have different opportunities depending to whom we are born and how we are educated.
It seems that people who suffered some kind of prejudice or judgment just want to make someone else feel that way. So, whether it is race or ethnicity or class, we are always looking for someone else to treat as badly as we have been treated.
So we complain about people who are different and don't want them to share what we have, like we have to be superior to someone--like freshmen, for instance. Rascism is on the same continuum as any bullying I think--just finding a way to exclude someone who is different somehow and in the process, feel better about ourselves, more powerful.
Racism is unacceptable but it will never go away. There are of course so many stereotypes towards racism that contribute to it and it is despicable. I feel like people need to learn how to be tolerant and should keep an open mind and decide for themselves instead of believing in stereotypes.
racism to me is immature. Its almost as if people are finding an excuse to not like someone. I believe that everyone should have the oppurtunity to show you who they really are and not let the color of their skin do it for them.
Racism will never go away, as horrible as it is. There are always going to be people that don't like others because of their skin color. The racist person just wants to feel that he is better than the other person. Just because a person is different than you doesn't mean that you should pick on them. Everyone is unique.
I feel its both where you come from and who you are because there were some black cops that were arresting black people only because of where they lived and what the didnt have
Racism and ignorance are major problems in our society, these beleifs are instilled in the minds of people at young ages and they tend to stick with them throughout their life. With this being passed down through each generation it seems like it is unstoppable, but that is not true.
With every case in racism it is either people who follow stereotypes or people who were brought up wrong. History has almost proven that racism will always exist but the difference is more and more people are fighting to end it
