Does he explain the scavenging process so that others can also do it efficiently, or is he simply describing the process that he follows because others might find it interesting or inportant?

1. I feel like he is trying to explain that dumpster diving isn't as dirty and low-life as people make it out to be or see it as, and how we all throw away good stuff.
2. The authors audience is everybody of the norm, who see dumpster divers and gross people.
1.) Eighner's purpose in this reading i think is that dumpster diving is a life style for people who don't have all that wealthy people might. Also, that dumpster diving isn't as dirty as people think it is, and that we throw away such valuable things and have no idea.
4.) I think the audience is for the people who are ungrateful for what they have, and people who think dumpster diving is disgusting and look the other way.
1.I think his purpose is to to make dumpster diving seem more normal than people would think. I think he is also trying to explain to his audience that dumpster diving can give you the necessities of life for free.

1. Eighner's purpose of writing this short story is to tell how people waste things that are actually alright and good condition, some other things not as much. Though as a "scavenger" who dumpster dives, knows how to pick the things to go for and the other things just leave behind. I believe Eighner had a hidden message about life. At the beginning at someone's life, they don't know how to get or handle something but in time with practice and determination they will learn, what to keep in life and whats not worth losing nor waste energy on.
2. I think Eighner's audience is everyone that doesn't know how to begin in life(Dumpster Diving) and also toward people who waste a lot.
1. Eighner's essay is very eye opening. He crafts an explanation of an idea most people cannot fathom. I can actually speak for myself. I always loathed dumpster diving and thought of it as rather vile. Eighner however, brings a totally new perspective to the reader in regards to dumpster diving. He describes the scavenging process not to intrigue the reader, but to aid the reader in understanding how complex the process is. I understood from the scavenging process that dumpster divers are thoughtful in planning their scavenging. I now understand that dumpster diving is a way of life that I never fully understood. It's honestly quite intriguing.
4. The author's intended audience are those who either dumpster dive themselves, judge those who do, or throw things away. The intended audience is the every day person. Eighner's diction is inclusive to everyone. His diction is not densely complex, but it is strategic and somewhat simplistic. It is understandable to the average person. If the subject matter were directed to a different audience, he might intensify the sophistication of the diction or simplify it more.
1. His purpose of this essay is to let others know that him being a scavenger is his way of life, and it's really not as bad people make it seem to be. I think he is describing the process of dumpster diving through his personal experiences and how made it in the world of scavenging. He also shares interesting things that has happened like what he has found over the time he has done it. The larger purpose of essay in my opinion is explains that people are wasting perfectly good items everyday living in their homes taking everything for granted, while he's homeless getting everything for free and just as happy.
4. His audience is most likely to be people who are not sure of what dumpster diving is, or people who are interested in doing it as well.
1. His purpose of this essay is to for people, who don't dumpster dive, to understand that it is more normal than they think. Also, that dumpster diving isn't just for "hobos".
